Back in Charleston today and back to work. These are some of my latest color choices. I just love the first picture from Korean Vogue with the kittens. Oh yes.. and all the stripes too. I am giving my studio a makeover this week and it has something to do with black stripes. Pics to come! photos (via)
Creative Wear.
I recently came across this children's clothing store while searching through the online magazine, Paper Mache. The fabric of these dresses, along with the shoes really stood out to me. I hope to make it to my favorite fabric store today while touring around Nashville. So far... we have been able to check off most things on our list of things to see and do. Last night... we stood in a long line outside the Bluebird Cafe. Sadly, they were at full capacity and we didnt make our way in, but while standing in the line... we found out that the group in front and behind us were all from Charleston too. Pretty funny. We are off now to have tea at my great uncle and Southern food writer, John Egerton's house. I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday!
Greetings from Nashville
I wanted to post a little something from Nashville today! We are here and it is freezing (as it should be) Every time I come home, I forget how NICE everyone is, here! People are very nice in Charleston too, but Nashville is just a little different. An award-winning hot chocolate from TheCocoa Tree in Nashville, TN
Photos from a trip to the beach this week.... Gillian's friend, Laura threw Gillian a graduation party at her house on the beach... It was a great time and she had the coolest decorations all around her house. Of course she did (Laura is the creative person behind the Christmas room at Hyams garden center) We all felt festive, even Hobe;) I will post a couple of pictures from the party tomorrow;)
Have you been to POE Lately?
Poe Studio is a tiny little shop in Charleston that holds some of the most unique jewelry, cards, children's clothing, shoes, ect.... Poe is also one of the stores, where I sell my designs, which conveniently for me... is just across the street from my studio;) If you live in Charleston and are needing a last minute gift for Christmas.... this would be THEE place to go;)
Happy Monday! Only one week left until Christmas! I know that I probably don't have to remind everyone of that... I am very much looking forward to relaxing and putting everything to rest for a couple of days, that way, Ill be up for the many projects in 2011!(via mademoiselle marie)
break in the day
During the weekends, it's nice to take a break from my projects and visit Gillian and Mark's house and see what they are doing. Lately, they've been juicing a lot and where there is juice... there are visitors for sure... here are some of their recent projects and breaks in December...
wreath making... Gillian made these wreaths out of left-over christmas tree trimmings, red and blue berries and cumquats. This year, she gave them to friends and distributed some of them to places around town.
The favorite so far... carrot, apple, orange, lemon, parsley, kale, and ginger.
Mark, crocheting a hat within the hour of one of my weekend visits. He gets his yarn here!
tea and coffee

I believe that this has been the coldest week we've had in Charleston... Stay warm today! photo taken here
Practice
Any chance that I have a free moment which is usually during breakfast, lunch, running errands or the occasional coffee/tea, I like to take photos to better learn my camera. These were taken a couple of early mornings this week while waiting on a simmering poached egg.
In order.
Today is a Tuesday, which for me, means a day of tracing, cutting, (repeat x 10) writing, drawing, errands, fabric store(s), cutting, delivering, measuring, ordering, and bed. Despite the running around and a couple of frustrations here and there... I do like Tuesdays. Have a great day!
A good old- fashioned Toast.
Since Gillian just graduated on Saturday! We thought that the new restaurant, Husk( where, after renovation, they left vines growing through the roof!) was a fitting place to have a toast. Everyone tried a hand crafted, pre prohibition cocktail. It seems that this trend has made it's way down to Charleston for sure. After congratulating Gillian on her success, we headed home for some yay! cupcakes and a little bit of Christmas music, via Pandora (Frank Sinatra Holiday) haha Congrats, Gillian!
