Lately, I have been turning to vintage children's books as inspiration for the Spring clothing line and the custom orders that lie ahead. The colorful ones in particular seem to grab my attention.
The late Charlestonian author Du Bose Heyward has a very inspiring story as well. Living with Polio all his life and dropping out of school at the age of 14. He went on to become a successful writer. His book "The Country Bunny" captured little readers with it's humble story and beautiful illustrations by Marjorie Hack.
Right now, a notebook sit's next to the book and I write things down such as... ties at the neck, Spring sweater, and remember robin's egg blue...
I am grateful for other artists, writers, and creatives from the past as well as present who continually and constantly offer great inspiration.
